The Site is located entirely within the administrative boundary of Perth and Kinross Council, and sits approximately 3.5km north east of Crieff and will comprise up to 8 wind turbines with blade tip heights of up to 200m, solar photovoltaic (PV) panels covering up to 35 hectares, and potential for a Battery Energy Storage System. Indicative turbine and PV locations are shown below.

Project Status

On Friday 4th April 2025, Eurowind Energy Limited submitted a Scoping Report to the Energy Consents Unit (ECU) for their proposed Meallbrodden Energy Park.

The Scoping stage seeks to engage the planning authority and other statutory and non-statutory stakeholders at an early stage in the planning process; ensuring that key issues, based on local understanding, are identified.

Receipt of Scoping Responses in due course will help to inform the design of the energy park, ahead of the submission of our planning application, likely in late 2025, or early 2026.

The Scoping Report is available to view via the link at the bottom of this page.

Benefits

Eurowind Energy Limited is fully committed to providing a community benefit fund of £5,000 per installed MW of wind per annum, index linked.

We are keen to engage with local initiatives and communities to ensure local needs are met, as well as supporting new and existing community projects. Should consent be awarded, we would seek to implement a number of measures to ensure that local people, communities, and businesses are able to benefit from the project.

Public Consultation Events

As part of our early engagement efforts, Eurowind Energy Ltd recently held its the first round of public consultation events at Fowlis Wester and Strathearn Community Campus. We were pleased to see so many local community members participate and share their thoughts on the proposal.

Thank you to everyone who came along to the exhibitions. We will be taking some time to review, assess and respond to your feedback before our second phase of consultation, scheduled for later in 2025.

On the exhibitions, Dr David McCaughie, Development Manager (UK), Eurowind Energy Ltd, said:

"We would like to extend our thanks to everyone that came to see us at the recent exhibitions."

"The conversations surrounding the community benefit fund highlighted the opportunities in the local area that matter most to people and could be invested in. We are keen to work collaboratively to ensure Meallbrodden Energy Park can benefit the local community in as many ways as possible."

"There will be further opportunities to come and discuss the proposal with us later this year and we are committed to keeping the community updated as our plans progress."
